Four potential Kyle Korver trade destinations

Not only are they leaning towards giving their young core, featuring’Cedi Osman,’Rodney Hood,’Larry Nance Jr and’Collin Sexton, the bulk of the playing time, they even went so far as to fire the head coach who helped guide them to their only title,’Ty Lue.

Because of this youth movement, veterans like JR Smith,’Channing Frye and’Kyle Korver have been forced to mostly watch the action from the sidelines.

Report: Cavs gauging market for Kyle Korver

The Cleveland Cavaliers might be parting ways with another once key player. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst report that Kyle Korver might be on the move. At the very least, it looks like they’re gauging the trade market for the 37-year-old. Reports indicate that Cleveland is placing Korver on the trade block to ‘test the market’ for his potential value.

Trade talks did begin over the summer. And now with the season picking up, they’re resuming. And so far, reports look to be true. Before his firing, Lue would bench Korver in favor of younger players. But he got more regular playing time once the Cavs let Lue go.

Philadelphia 76ers should be looking forward to the buyout market

That doesn’t mean the buyout market can’t play an equally as big role for the Sixers in 2019. There are several veterans who a) probably won’t stay with their current team and b) could add to the Sixers’ bench.

Smith, while not the ideal fit that Korver is, would still provide value as a short-term rental. He’s a long-range threat, competent defender, and scoring boost off the bench. As long as he remembers the score, the fit makes sense.

The Rockets probably top Ariza’s preferred destinations, but the Sixers could slide in and offer the mid-level exception. He’s a quality wing defender and spot-up shooter, fitting an obvious niche on the bench. The Sixers need versatile bodies against Boston and Toronto in the playoffs.
