“Instead of loving a rock band or a Netflix series, I’ve always loved Corrie”, she tells Radio 1 Newsbeat.

The show, which has been running since 1960, aired its 10,000th episode on Friday. It’s the longest running soap in the world.

Coronation Street spoilers: 10 things you can expect from 10,000th episode

Back in 1960, nobody could have expected Coronation Street to have become the titan that it is today but, fast forward 60 years and we’ve reached episode 10,000th which aims to celebrate and capture a lot of what makes the show so special. Still, the aim here is classic Corrie with a modern take and a fair few trips down memory lane as well as a couple of storyline developments which will serve the show in coming months. And with a strong selection of characters from all generations going on a road trip to Corrie’s favourite location spot, Blackpool, we’re already feeling the first tickles of nostalgia.
