The actor, who plays Marcus Dent on the soap, shared on Twitter that he contracted the Covid-19 virus six months ago.

He also detailed experiencing ‘phantom smells’ throughout, telling a fan that he occasionally smells ‘sweaty feet’.

Charlie tweeted on Saturday: ‘It’s been almost 6 months since I had Covid-19 and lost use of the fingers on my left hand. Still no sign of recovery. Long Covid sucks.’

When a follower described ‘Covid phantom smells’, he replied: ‘I have phantom smells too!! I often can smell sweaty feet. It’s so weird.’

In a further tweet the TV star shared it was ‘nerve damage’ and acupuncture ‘wouldn’t work’.
