The BBC soap shut down filming following the spread of the coronavirus in the UK, but while the sets are closed, work behind the scenes continues to happen.

“Just to let you know that after the news last week that we are postponing filming, we are still working hard behind the scenes planning stories for when we return.”

Sen’s update comes after the BBC cut the number of weekly episodes from four to two, with the show only airing on Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays at 7.30pm for the time being.

“We have… taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible,” the BBC said last week.

The pair have been feeling anxious for weeks as they awaited this appointment and as tonight’s episode began, the couple were a ball of nerves.
