Some ITV Good Morning Britain fans are calling for a permanent change in presenters as Alastair Campbell covers for the Richard Madeley on the breakfast show this week.

Campbell is co-presenting alongside Susanna Reid on the current affairs show – and viewers have flocked to social media to voice their opinions on his presenting skills.

Others have even said that they ‘switched off’ the show when Richard Madeley took over from Piers in the presenting chair, and another has branded him a ‘Covidiot’.

One Twitter user said: “Please please can @campbell claret stay presenting @gmb instead of arrogant ignorant Covidiot Richard Madeley. Campbell is so much more interesting. #gmb”

Good Morning Britain in presenter shake

Viewers have been used to seeing Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins taking the reins of the ITV news programme

The journalist and broadcaster will arrive on screen from Wednesday, August 18, for four days until Monday, August 23.

He replaces Kate and will host alongside Charlotte Hawkins on Wednesday,before Kate returns for Thursday and Friday’s show with Richard.
